Burnout 3:Takedown won't save?

my ps2 game Burnout 3:Takedown won't save...When i choose save it writes a message that it can't find a memory card but there are two 8MB memory cards inserted and they work for all my 300+ ps2 games except this one....My friend also had a ps2 console just like mine,the same game and the same memory card and he has the same problem.....The game worked well when i bought it,and i almost ped the game when this problem occurred
