Good theories. How about Palmer? He was so mad that he missed all those years thinking she was dead and he never really liked her with Tad anyway....thinking they would get back together, he put something in them to make her appear dead and then whisked her away. That is why we haven't seen him much, he is enjoying private time with his favorite niece!
