How do i hook up my onkyo speaker to my stereo?

i have an onkyo speaker, and i have the wires hooked through my new house. the builders hooked up the ones on the roof, but i have a (base, im pretty sure) speaker, and i dont know how to hook it up. i have the power cord and the cord that sends it signals to play music already hooked up to the stereo. but when i turn on my stereo, the speaker doesnt do anything. all my others speakers have and are working fine. It is just this one that is "retaliating". :D please help me.
