Any advice on how to repair the plaster on a chimney inside the house?

The chimney in my house goues through the kitchen and is covered up with some type of plaster, then wallpapered. I'm prepping to paint, so when i pulled off the wallpaper, some of the plaster has weak spots and/or holes. Can anyone tell me how to repair this?
