Devil's advocate question (literally)?

I think your right, christianity and most monotheistic religions in the current incarnation is "soft' and not hard line enough, they should go around and try to kill people who they deem as heretics or witches or sinners as they did in the past, because they were at least adhering to the framework of the bible as it really states things.the extremist muslims today at least are adhering to their holy scripture as it is literally written.In modern times the religions of the world have had to compromise more and more as time wears on simply in order to keep the vestiges of the religion alive and attract followers, as the majority of people embrace modern concepts and civilized behaviour,- burning people at the stake in the name of god seems a little outdated.Of course there is still a fair percentage of religous nuts around today who would like to do just that if they could.The simple fact is we live in the modern era and as technology and education advances, the more religion seems ridiculous, so you are seeing compromise after compromise until finally these primitive beliefs die out completely.What you are witnessing right now in this era is a pretty significant slice of history, the death throes of christ-insanity, it will be written in the history books as such, so try not to feel to jaded or dissilusioned we are living in a very promising and progressive era, the birth of a New World Order! ;)
