Dose anyone know the life expectancy of a french legionnaire.?

I want to fight no matter the cost. I want to be a sort of Freedom fighter weather that be with the american army or the french legion! i want to know whit ch one will i be most likely to see some action? and the life expect of a legionnaire i don't want to die but if that's what im ask to do well then that's what will happen!!
