Tough guitar choice?

A PRS SE Custom or a Fender Standard Stratocaster? My birthday is coming up and I plan on using the money towards one. The PRS runs about $600 and the standard Strat is $400. I've only been playing for about 7 months now and this would be my first electric guitar. I really have no knowledge on electric guitars and what to look for, but I want a guitar that will last a lifetime and that will be a good investment. I know its all about personal feeling when playing, and how it feels in your hands, but I'm really just wondering if its worth it to go with the PRS and fork over the extra 200 if I like playing it more. I've heard good things about the Strat and I've heard great things about the PRS. (and if you have the time whats a good beginners amp, I was thinking fender pro junior?.....)
