Anyone have a suicidal gold fish before?

I have! My gold fish, motor, jumps out of his tank and flaps himself under the couch! One day we didn't notice and he was under there for 2 hours! I found him, put him back in the tank, and he was still alive! Anyone heard of this? We have a tin cookie cover with tiny holes for oxygen, from a cookie tin, and every once and awhile you'll hear, tink!. That's him trying to jump out
