So what exactly happened to Jeff Hardy in TNA?

A couple of months ago, Jeff Hardy was losing to World title to CM Punk, but was still a hot commodity, and still on top of the world in terms of popularity and exposure. Then he went to TNA, and in just a few short weeks, he became just another TNA wrestler in their revolving door. And to cap it off on yesterday's Impact, even though he was (kind of) selling to fight with Abyss, he looked sluggish, sloppy, and unmotivated against Rob Terry....how exactly did TNA (or even Jeff Hardy himself) turn Hardy from THE man to just somebody else on the roster???
