What is up with my ex and me?

A few weeks ago my ex randomly texted me to apologize for being a and ending it because he didn't want a relationship at the end of the summer. Then a few days ago he asked to hang out, but it was really snowy so it didn't work out(he suggested my house, his house, or movies which makes me think he wanted to hook up)..and now tonight he called and asked me if there were any parties for new years and I told him about some I've heard and then he asked where i was heading and to call him later...so i texted him where I was at later and he never replied..so i don't really understand what kind of relationship he wants with me now.
