I have debt, but to be fair, am i invincible?

Go to google.com and check out "statute of limitations debt uk", without the punctuation. I'm an American, but we got our legal system from you guys, so it's all pretty similar. If you stop paying, STOP PAYING. If you give them one penny, the statutory period starts running again from zero as of that day. It might be nice to move and not leave a forwarding address, and for Pete sake, switch jobs. Never get a credit report for a job or anything else unless you give a fake address and phone number or the collection agencies will be all over you. You can tell your friends and family where you are, but unless you have a very common last name, debt collectors may start calling people with the same last name and asking questions. Get a phone number listed under some made-up name and if you ever get a letter from a debt collector, don't answer it. If it's from the tax collector, you might be best off paying. At least in my country, credit reports only go back seven years in most cases, sometimes ten. After that you're a virgin again.
