Why when I denounce Islamic fundamentalism people call me a liar and an apologist.?

Very few people will actually say "I support Islamic fundamentalism," unless they themselves are fundamentalists. Why does the right constantly claim that no one stands up to Islamic fundamentalism when almost everyone denounces it, including Muslims? Is that somehow not good enough?
